Marvin Ray Patterson, age 91, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Born in Nash County on December 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Robert Pat Patterson and Lula Wells Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Carlye Patterson; Willie Eugene "Bo" Patterson; and Jamie Patterson; and sister, Louise Crickmore.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret; sons, Alton Ray Patterson (Annette D.) of Rocky Mount, and Kenneth E. Patterson (Janice Owens) of Rocky Mount; daughter, Donna P. Bragg of Rocky Mount; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Marie Pugh of Rocky Mount; brother, Mick Patterson of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Major Al Smith, Lt. Jonathan and Dawn Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
