LUCY WALKER BRAZIEL


ROCKY MOUNT – Lucy Walker Braziel, 89, died July 9, 2006. She was born in Nash County on Aug. 6, 1916, the daughter of the late George Walker and Lizzie Bass Walker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton L. Braziel, a daughter, Beverley W. Raynor, three sisters, Cora Layton, Bertha Modlin and Sadie Bone, three brothers, Jessie, Frank and John Walker, and a grandchild, Jamie Bastuba.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Joyner and husband Lee of Littleton, Jerry Williams and wife Joan Wall of Rocky Mount, Phyllis Bastuba and husband Jim of Atlanta, David Williams and wife Penny of Sandy Cross and Linda Braziel Langley of Nashville; two sisters, Leona Barnes and Thelma Edwards, both of Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home with the Rev. Judson Dunlap and the Rev. Jimmy Reavis officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
