Mary Bluma Sessoms Garrett, age 74, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Born in Nash County on November 7, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Fred Sessoms and Myrtle Jackson Sessoms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Garrett, Sr.; brother, Bert Sessoms; and sisters, Helen Townsend and Debbie Turner.

She is survived by her sons, Melvin Garrett and wife, Angela, of Rocky Mount; and Jeff Sallee of Rocky Mount; and daughter, Michelle Sallee of Spring Hope. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip Sessoms; sister, Iris Sessoms; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Steve Webb officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
