William Lentz Barnes, 80, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017. He was born in Wilson County October 6, 1936 to the late Charles and Mittie Wooten Barnes. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Keen and a brother, Lyman Lee Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Barnes; son, William Lentz "Lennie" Barnes, II and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Barbara Robin Melissa Barnes; five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Davis and Elder Autry Pridgen officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
