Zelma Edwards Powell, 89, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. She was born in Nash County, November 10, 1927 to the late Willie L. and Stella Joyner Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Powell; and four brothers, Fred, Harold, Wilbur and Bradley Edwards.

She is survived by her son, Stanley Powell (Stacy); daughters, Sandra Glover (Donnie), Debra Collie; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildrenl; brother, Frank Edwards (Carol); and sister, Judith Nicholson; sisters in law, Ernell Edwards, Nancy Edwards; and many nieces and nephews .

The family will receive friends from 6 -9 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 551 Macedonia Rd., Spring Hope, NC.
