Ruth Winstead Rackley Boone, age 104, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Born in Nash County, on October 4, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Redmond Winstead and Ella Winstead. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Mallison Rackley; brothers, Elijah "J.R." Redmond Winstead, Jr., Selby Winstead, and Cleveland Winstead; sisters, Beatrice Wheeless, and Geneva Burchett; and husband, Eddie C. Boone.

She is survived by her sons, Ted Rackley and wife, Theresa; Dalton Rackley and fiancé, Mary Miller; and David Rackley and wife, Anne; daughters, Joyce R. Powell and husband, John, all of Nashville; and Linda R. Annett of Lynchburg, VA; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and three step-children.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Steve Roberson officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
