Martha Joyner Adkins, age 101, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County on October 31, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William Dorsey Joyner and Martha Caroline Hales Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, E.E. "Knocker" Adkins.
She is survived by two sons; E.E. "Tommy" (Gaelynn) and W.J. "Billy" Adkins (Jennie); three grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Monday, November 28, 2016 at Pineview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Nash Hospice.
