Mary Brown Tharrington "Sissy", age 89, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Born in Nash County, on November 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Brown and Dehurse Ramsey Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Roy Tharrington, Jr., brother-in-law, Harry Lee Tharrington; and God-son, Ronald Barrett.

She is survived by her sister, Gail Brown Williams and husband, Joe, of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law, Fred Tharrington and wife, Betty, of Nashville; several nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Patrick Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
