Lola Mae Hilton Peterson, age 96, of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Born in Tift County, GA on November 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late David Eddie Hilton and Pearl Irene Smith Hilton. She was also preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life for 67 years, Morris Lee Peterson; as well as one brother and seven sisters.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Eddie Peterson and wife, Gail, of Raleigh; daughter, Morrye Peterson Roberson and husband, Brink, of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Martin and husband, Stu, of Athens, GA, Veneda Hilton and Geneva Hilton both of Atlanta, GA; Audrey Tucker of Waycross, GA; and Lutrelle Smith and husband, Rod, of York, PA; many nieces, nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with her son, Rev. Eddie Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be at 12:30 PM prior to the service.
