Herbert Lewis Freeman, age 75, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Born in Wilson County on October 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Darwin Kingsley "D.K." Freeman and Jackie Latta Freeman.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anne Dowdy Freeman; his two daughters, Lynne Freeman Schiller and Jacqueline Freeman Bullington and her husband, Jed, both of Raleigh; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Judy Dunson, Mayson Ross, Elizabeth McHone, Susan Freeman, Jean Bernholz, Fran Miller, and Ginger Brezac; and his brother Stuart Freeman.

Services will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service until 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Health Care, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
