Samuel "Little Sammy" Land, II, age 48, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Born in Edgecombe County on October 28, 1967, he was the son of the Samuel "Sammy" Ray Land and Patsy Ann Joyner Land. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Daniel Land and Betty Eason Land; and his maternal grandparents, Harrison Joyner and Pauline Turner Joyner.

Along with his parents, Little Sammy is survived by his sister, Tammy Jo Land Dew and husband, Brian, of Wilmington; on e niece, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Alicia Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
