Charles Earl Sykes, 79, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016. He was born in Nash County, December 12, 1936 to the late Al Vann and Sarah Carter Sykes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sisters, Marjorie White, Kezia Griffin, Jessie Mae Johnson, Elsie DiBenedetto; sisters, Ida Sykes, Mary Wood; brothers, Alvin Lee Sykes, Quesnel Sykes and John D. Sykes.

He is survived by his wife Barbara W. Sykes; sons Don Sykes (Debbie), Kenny Sykes (Melissa); daughter Lisa Lewis (Jesse); 5 grandchildren; brothers David "D.B." Sykes (Barbara), Jimmy Sykes; sisters Susie Ledford (Don) and Shirley Jackson (Louis).

Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chet Harvey and Rev. Frankie Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30p.m. prior to the service.
