Lucy Herring Stroud, 87, passed away January 17, 2016. She was born in Duplin County on April 24, 1928 to the late Tobie and Julia Brock Herring. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of nearly 67 years, Milton Stroud, her daughter, Carolyn Stroud Webb, two sisters, Nora H. Hunter of Dallas, NC and Ruth H. Ezzell of Warsaw, NC and three brothers, Council Herring of Rocky Mount, John Henry Herring of Dallas, NC, and Marion Herring of Bowdens, NC.

She is survived by her daughter, Daphne Stroud Daughtry (Carl) of Rocky Moun; son, Ricky Stroud (Gail) of Battleboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Myrtle Herring of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
