Johnny Lee Sherrod, 71, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was born October 7, 1944 in Nash County to the late Johnnie and Elsie Mae Johnson Sherrod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stancil Sherrod; sister, Ann Drake and brother, Andrew Sherrod, Sr.

Survivors include his fiancé, Peggy Wells Hall; son, Jeffrey Scott Sherrod; step-sons, Raymond and Robert Holland; brothers, Monroe, Roland and Zollie Sherrod; sisters, Ruby Lee and Brenda White; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Bill Donovan officiating at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery.
