Betty "Hazel" Pridgen, 81, passed away December 19, 2015. She was born September 16, 1934 in Wilson County to the late Walter Jackson, Sr. and Maggie Worrell Varnell. Hazel was also preceded by her husband, Walter Harvey "Shorty" Pridgen.

She is survived by her sons, Bryant Pridgen and wife Janet, Greg Pridgen and wife Linda, Kemp Pridgen and wife Jean, and Wynne Pridgen and wife Lisa; sister, Shirley Harrell and husband James; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Oak View Baptist Church in Rocky Mount on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 12:30 until 2:00 with a service at 2pm. Pastor David Taylor will be officiating. Committal will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oak View Baptist Church, 2412 Arlington St., Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
