Minnie Jo Fisher Gay, age 86, of Whitakers, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born in Nash County on January 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Fisher, Jr. and Virginia Seleta Turner Fisher.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Louis Norman Gay, Jr.; her daughter, June G. Carlisle and husband, Bobby, of Conetoe; son, Louis Norman Gay, III and wife, Tracie, of Red Oak; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Thomas Fisher, III and wife, Sylvia, of Rocky Mount; and Donald Dudley Fisher and wife, Cynthia, of Rocky Mount. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Edna Virginia "Ginger" Gay; and sister, Seleta Fisher Rose; and brother, Kenneth Thomas Fisher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, P. O. Box 715, Whitakers, NC 27891.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Gene Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Whitakers Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, December 11, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
