Calvin Woodrow Winstead, age 82, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Born in Nash County on December 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Van Buren and Mary Dovie Joyner Winstead. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Rosa Winstead and brothers, James, Rachel, Randolph, and John Dempsey (J.D.) Winstead.

He is survived by his daughter, Janet W. Hodge and husband, Gordon of Rocky Mount; son, Gary Woodrow Winstead of the home; stepdaughter, Patricia Jones and husband, Claude of Washington, NC; stepson, Alvin Asby and wife, Martha of Battleboro; sisters, Ethel Mae Joyner, Edna Evans, and brother, Grady Winstead, along with 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at Oakdale Baptist Church on Monday, November 23, 2015 with Calvin's son-in-law, Gordon Hodge, Rev. Don Causey and Rev Howard Kendrick officiating. Burial followed the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 US 64 Alt. West Hwy. Rocky Mount, NC. 27801.
