Blanche Winstead Joyner, age 85, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Born in Nash County on October 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Felix Winstead and Minnie Batts Winstead. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Marvin Richard Joyner; her sister Elsie Harrell; and brothers, Otha Winstead and Jettie Winstead.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Joyner Whitley and her husband, Billy, of Elm City; her sons, Brad Joyner and his wife, Janet, of Rocky Mount, Sherwood Joyner and his wife, Karen, of Rocky Mount, and Keith Joyner and his wife, Carolyn, of Rocky Mount; and her first cousin, Shirley Barkley, who was like a sister; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 5556 Bend of the River Road, Rocky Mount, with the Pastor Justin Nale officiating. Burial will follow at Winstead Family Cemetery, Bend of the River Road, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Blanche's memory to Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 5556 Bend of the River Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
