Carolyn Pierce Vanhook, age 84, passed away at Duke University Medical Center, Friday, November 6, 2015. Carolyn was born January 18, 1931 in Gaston County. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Novella Pierce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Vanhook, Sr., a son, Billy Vanhook, Jr. and a grandson Todd Vanhook.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Griffin and her husband, Dwayne of Red Oak; grandchildren, Claire Griffin of Middlesex; Colby Griffin and his wife Amanda of Nashville; Sam and Valerie Vanhook; great-grandson; Hudson Vanhook Griffin.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church, 1238 Rock Creek Drive, Nashville, NC, with Dr. Blake Dempsey officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forrest Hills Cemetery, 219 North 1st Street, Nashville, NC 27856
