Brenda Gail Barnes, age 63, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Born in Nash County on March 10, 1952, she was the daughter of Hardy Smith of San Antonio, TX and the late Barbara Ward Jones. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl "Mae" Joyner and one brother, Timmy Dilda.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Kenneth Carl Barnes, her son, David Joseph Viverette and his wife, Christi, of Rocky Mount; step-son, Kenneth Jason Barnes and his wife, Kiersten, of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann Murray of Louisburg; and one brother, John Jones of Rocky Mount.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Joe Price and Reverend Joe Proctor officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
