Stuart Brent Gray, Sr., 72, of Rocky Mount passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015. Born January 20, 1943 in Avon, NC and grew up in Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Temple Gray; his son, Stuart Brent Gray, Jr; his father, Homer Styron Gray; and his mother, Annie Gertrude Williams Gray. He was also preceded in death by one sister Wilma G. O'Neal and two brothers, Wilbur D. Gray and Homer L. Gray.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Gray Jenkins and her husband Joey of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Shelly Gray of Rocky Mount and two sisters, Lilly G. Jones and Frieda G. French of Elizabeth City. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with many nieces, nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Brandon Dees officating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family request a private burial at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made in Mr. Gray's name to Calvary Baptist Church, 505 South Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
