Troy Ruffin Smith, age 79, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. Troy was born on September 1, 1935, in Nash County and was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Ruffin Smith and Minnie Clara Joyner Smith and one sister, Katherine Catlett.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Barnes Smith of Rocky Mount; his daughter Darlene Smith Jones and her husband, Ray, of Rocky Mount; his son Skyler Tant Smith and his wife, Julie, also of Rocky Mount; four brothers, Coy Smith and his wife, Mae, of Nashville, Shelton Smith of Castalia, Floyd Smith of Selma, and Grady Smith and his wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount; and a sister, Letha Rowe of Rocky Mount; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Grace Baptist Temple Church, 8923 W. Mount Drive, Rocky Mount with Reverend Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery.
