Flora Mae Smith, age 101, passed away Friday, April 03, 2015. She was born in Horry County, SC on February 11, 1914 to the late John Stokes Smith and Claudia Frye Smith. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Smith; one daughter, Ann Ratcliff; her son, Walter Viverette; three sisters, Elberta Dawes, Winnie Bizzell, and Elwood Holmes; and her five brothers, Gilbert Smith, Gordon Smith, Billy Smith, Donald Smith and Delwin Smith.
She is survived by her daughters Joyce Smith Davis of Rocky Mount and Faye Gardner of Virginia Beach, VA; her sons, Howard Smith and his wife, Jill, of Rocky Mount, Jerry Smith and his wife, Mary Ruth, of Fuquay Varina and Michael Smith and his wife, Eula, of Whitakers; a daughter-in-law, Sonya Viverette of Rocky Mount; and a sister, Ernestine Maynard of Hickory; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Worship Center Building Fund, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
A funeral service was held Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Ridgecrest Worship Center, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Kelly Shope and Flora Mae's son, Reverend Jerry Smith officiating. A burial was held Monday, April 6, 2015 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
