Kennie Joyner, Jr., passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the age of 81. Born April 7, 1933, he was the son of the late Kennie Gold Joyner, Sr. and Mamie Pridgen Joyner.
In addition to his parents, Kennie is preceded in death by his grandchild, Ashley Paul Turner; his sisters, Belle Turner, Dora Williams, Emma Mae Griffin and Jennie Daughtridge and his brothers, Thurman Joyner, Cecil Joyner, Harrison Joyner, Garland Joyner and Larry Joyner.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Pierce Joyner; his daughters, Deborah Winstead of Rocky Mount, and Wendy Upchurch and husband, David of Sharpsburg; sons, Kenneth Wayne Joyner of Pinetops,  and special friend, Brenda Fulford, Ervin Lee Joyner of Rocky Mount, and Charles Albert Joyner and his daughter-in-law, Deanie Waller Joyner of Rocky Mount; sister, Mary Jackson of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Old Wilson Road Church of God, Rocky Mount,  with Pastor Tony Bossolono officiating.
