ROCKY MOUNT - Willie “Rounder Pop” Battle, 89, died on Monday, November 24, 2014.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 1 p.m. from Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Dunnings officiating. Burial followed in the Stoney Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include spouse, Mary Battle; five daughters, Florine Best and her husband, Louis, of Dover, DE, Mary Sherrod, of Rocky Mount, Annie Battle, of Nashville, Frances Jones and her husband, Cornelius, of Temple Hills, MD, and Joanna Gates and her husband, Tyrone, of Miami, FL; a son, Terry Battle and his wife, Vanessa of Charlottesville, VA; a sister, Lucy Ricks, of Rocky Mount; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
