Ruby S. Barnes, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014.  She was born May 3, 1926 in Edgecombe  County to the late Mack and Alma Sims.  In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar R. Barnes; son, Marvin Lewis Spain, and five brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Red Casper (Betty), Dennis Ray Spain (Joan) and William Ronald Spain; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; sister, Lillian Price.
A graveside service was held Friday, October 31, 2014 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Dr. Dal Coppedge officiating.
