Barbara Ward Jones, age 80, passed away on August 29, 2014. Born in Hertford County on April 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ward and Ruby Bass Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jones; one daughter, Cheryl D. Joyner; two sons, Timothy Lee Dilda and Joseph A. Smith; two sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughters Ruth J. Murray and   husband, Brian of Louisburg, Brenda S. Barnes and  husband, Kenny of Rocky Mount; son John Jones of Rocky Mount,; brother, Benny Ward and his wife, Edith of Rocky Mount; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held  Monday, September 1, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Proctor officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery.
