ELM CITY – Frances Dawes Webb, age 86, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Elm City on September 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ethna Dawes and Estelle Batchelor Dawes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Webb.
She is survived by her  daughter, Jeanie Martinez-Jantz of Alexandria, VA; son, Phillip Freedman of Matthews, VA; two grandchildren; brothers, Charles, Uri, Ray and Fred Dawes; and one sister, Lillian Joyner.
A funeral service was held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Fr. George Greer officiating.  Burial was at Mill Branch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
