Dennis Hall Raper, age 84, passed away June 6, 2014. He was born in Wilson County on July 15, 1929 to Pearl Joyner Raper and Barney Robertson Raper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Gale Raper Turner. Dennis was also preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Raper Odom; and brothers, Jennings, Charles, Graham, and Donald.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally Doris Boykin Raper; his sisters, Lynn Raper Whiteford of Greenville, Kathryn Raper Pittman and husband, Leroy of Kinston; brother, Frank Raper and wife, Evelyn of Goldsboro; and sisterin-law, Jackie Raper of Rocky Mount.
A service was held Monday, June 9, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. A committal service followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
