Freddie Nelson Turner, Sr., age 77, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013. Born in Edgecombe County on August 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Jacob “Jake” Turner and Pauline Jones Turner. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Earl Turner, Leroy Turner, and Billy Richard Turner; and sister, Betty Turner Crooker.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois Taylor Turner; sons, Freddie Nelson Turner, Jr. and wife Vivian of Rocky Mount and Randall Scott Turner of Garner; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Pauline T. Joyner of Rocky Mount, Peggy T. Ellison of Nashville, Rose T. Carroll of Rocky Mount and Melva T. Carpenter (Bruce) of Rocky Mount; brother, Ray Turner (Denise) of Pinetops.
A service was held Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Cooper officiating.   Burial was at  at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Proctors Chapel Baptist Church, 2917 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount NC 27801.
