Joseph E. “Buddy” Baines passed away on October 4, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 20, 1932 to the late Charlie David Baines and Millie Ganey Baines. Buddy was preceded in death by his brothers Wiley Baines, Gray Baines and Jimmie Baines.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Malda Jenkins Baines and two children: Malda Baines Harrell and her husband David and Jeffrey Baines. He is also survived by two grandchildren; and sister, Connie Baines Boseman.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Nash General.
A service was held October 5, 2013 at West Edgecombe Baptist Church, Rocky Mount and  interment was held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
