William “Bill” Douglas Ezzell, Sr., 82 years of age,  passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born in Nash County on April 30, 1931, the son of the late Jessie Ezzell and Zollie and Minnie Tharrington. He was also preceded in death by his wife Ina Moore Ezzell, brother, Daniel Tharrington and wife Miriam.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherryl Ezzell Tipton and husband Ed of Greenville; his son, William Douglas Ezzell Jr. and wife Robin of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren; brothers, Walter Tharrington and wife Mary and Richard Tharrington and wife Beth; sister, Jean Tharrington Gilbert and husband John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh NC 27609.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will take place at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. with Mike Clark officiating. Graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends at the home of Bill and Ina Ezzell.
