Harold Thomas “Bud” Massengale, 84, passed away, Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home. He was born August 13, 1928 in Nash County to the late Harvey and Gracie Massengale. In addition to his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Laura Hedgepeth Massengale; sisters, Mittie Lou Baker, Dorothy Leonard, and Jean Vanhook; brothers, Ollie, Archie, Julian and Jimmy Massengale; and son-in-law, James C. “BoBo” Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Vanhook Massengale of the home; daughters, Emily Massengale Long (Kevin) of Pfafftown, NC and Debbie Vanhook Jones of Rocky Mount; sons, Kenneth Thomas Massengale (Frances) of Nashville,  and Philip Wesley Massengale of Nashville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Essie Belle Rose of Nashville; sister-in-law, Frances Griffin Hedgepeth of Nashville and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Daniel West and Chris Matchem officiating. Burial will take place in Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be sent to Beulah Church of Christ, 450 East Beulah Road, Nashville, NC 27856.
