CHARLIE CLIFTON “CLIFF” ALFORD


Charlie Clifton Alford, age 84, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012. Born in Edgecombe County on January 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Charlie Cooper Alford and Bessie Hamlett Alford. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Vivian “Bunny” Alford; brothers, James Edward Alford, Julian Glynn Alford, William Cooper Alford and Roy David Alford; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Alford; brother-in-law, Marcus Wiley Johnson; one great-granddaughter; son-in-law, Timothy Lee Pridgen.

He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Alford Pridgen; son, Allen Dale Alford and wife Glenda Smith Alford; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Earl Alford (Joyce), Harold Ray Alford (Donnie) of Miami FL, and Kenneth Lewis Alford (Jean); sisters, Nannie Alford Johnson of Ahoskie, Louise Alford Wainright (Rex) of Winterville; and sisters-in-law, Gaynelle Flowers Alford, Carolyn Duke Alford and Betty Jean Blackford.

The family will receive friends and relatives 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember Cliff will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Red Oak Cemetery.
