Luther Askew Sherrod, 84 passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012.

He was born in Nash County on July 17, 1927 to the late James Luther and Lizzie Belle Tyson Sherrod.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Randolph and Hassell Sherrod and a sister Marie Braziel.

Askew is survived byhis wife of 64 years, Elma Leigh Sherrod of the home; sons, Danny Sherrod and his wife, Trudy and Ronnie Sherrod and his wife, Jackie all of Nashville; two grandsons; two great grandchildren; and sister, Christine Champion of Raleigh.

Funeral services  were held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.
