ALICE CHRISTINE DICKENS


VIRGINIA BEACH –– Alice Christine Dickens, 79, passed away on March 27, 2012. A native of Duplin County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Alice Rivenbark Rooks.

Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Mason B. “Bill” Dickens; three sons, Steven B. Dickens and his wife, Joyce; Thomas R. Dickens and his wife, Dianna; and Robert L. Dickens and his wife, Jennifer; two sisters, Doris Crawford and Bonnie O’Neal; three brothers, Thomas E. Rooks and his wife, Christine; Lawrence P. Rooks and his wife, Margaret; and Gene A. Rooks and his wife, Donnye; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her brother, Sherwood P. Rooks.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. after which she was transported to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount for a visitation on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to Indian River Baptist Church, 1500 Laurel Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23325.
