William Payne Shearin, 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2012.  He was born in Halifax County on May 22, 1942 to the late Thomas Robert and Ida Mae Harper Shearin.

William is survived by his son, William Shearin, Jr. (Cathy), of Castalia and daughter, Barbara Bishop  (Mike) of Rocky Mount.  Sister, Nancy (Bill) Thomas of Dublin, VA.  Brothers; Clifton Shearin of Battleboro, Richard Shearin of Elm City, Mack Shearin (Betty) of Battleboro, and Claude Shearin (Ruby) of Rocky Mount.  Former wife, Gail Shearin.  He is also survived by step-children: Lisa Schmidt, Karin Pullen, Keith Schmidt (Casey) and Antonio Schmidt; six grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Living Faith Fellowship with Rev. Danny Harris officiating.
