Ernest Eugene Bowden, age 91 passed away on January 14, 2012.

He was born in Franklin County on December 20, 1920 to the late Tommie and Mamie Layton Bowden.

He is preceded in death by his brothers: Lewis and J.W. Bowden, Randolph, Willie, Richard, Hubert and Alvin Tyson. Sisters: Jonnie Bell Bowden, Louise Moss, Mozelle Harrison, Bessie Bowden and Rochelle Tyson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Mills Bowden of the home, two daughters: Charlotte and Buck Briley of Rocky Mount and Sharon and Neil Carignan of Manteo, two sons: David and Peggy Bowden and Ricky and Brenda Bowden both of Rocky Mount, brothers: Wayne and Linda Tyson and Robert and Nellie Tyson both of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were  held January 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, Rocky Mount.
