James Nicholas Lewis, age 94 passed away January 2, 2012. He was born, the eldest of four boys, on September 13, 1917 in Spring Hope to the late James Edwin and Sophie Daughtridge Lewis.

Nick was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years Ruth Herrington Lewis and later his wife of 20 years Rena Register Lewis, brother Benjamin Daughtridge Lewis, grandson James Nicholas Lewis III, and son-in-law Colby Wayne Lee, Sr.

He is survived by his brothers Rex Elmer Lewis of Albuquerque NM and George William Lewis of Nashville, his children Linda Lewis Bradley (Doug) of Charlotte, Charlotte Lewis Lee of Rocky Mount, James Nicholas Lewis, Jr. (Marla) of Lincolnton, Phillip Gary Lewis (Colleen) of Charlotte, and Phyllis Register Isemann (Frank) of Richmond Va.; and ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service  was held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Proctors Chapel Baptist Church Rocky Mount.
