ROCKY MOUNT - James Edward Hodges, age 84, passed away at his home Sunday, November 13, 2011. He was born on February 15, 1927 son of the late Jerome Hodges, Sr. and Bessie Kirkland Hodges.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hasty Hodges; sister, Edna Lancaster and brother, Johnny Hodges.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Sprinkle and husband Ron of Troutville, VA;  sons, David Keith Hodges and wife Ginny of Rocky Mount and Jimmy Hodges and wife Jo Anne of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Rachel Cobb of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Jerome Hodges, Jr. of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., prior to the service.
