Wiley Oscar Cockrell, Jr., 68, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was born in Edgecombe County, November 10, 1942 to the late Wiley Oscar Cockrell and Etta Carpenter Cockrell.

He is survived by one sister, Odell Hinton of Rocky Mount, and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Oscar was preceded in death by his brother, Wiley Thurman Cockrell of Rocky Mount and sister, Gladys Edwards of Cleveland, Ohio.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Cockrell officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery.
