NASHVILLE - Sammy Gorham Joyner, 65, passed away Wednesday October, 26, 2011. He was born May 21, 1946 in Nash County. Sammy was the son of the late Samuel and Mallie Joyner. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dan, Alvin and Gene Joyner.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Speight Joyner, two sons, Glenn Joyner and wife Darlene of Nashville, Frank Joyner and wife Aimee of Wilson, two sisters, Doris Michedo and husband George of Nashville, Elsie Mae Rhodes of Pensacola, Florida,  seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held at a later date.
