Mack Daniel Simmons, Jr. “M.D,” age 85 passed away October 19, 2011 in the Nash General Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1925 in Wilson County. Mack married Mary Faircloth Simmons on November 23, 1954.

He is preceded in death by his father, Mack Daniel Simmons, Sr. and mother, Daisy Bottoms Simmons, an infant brother; sons, Spec. 4th Class Mack Daniel Simmons III “Danny” and Johnny Ray Simmons; sister, Jean Simmons Farmer (Shorty); and son-in-law, Larry A. Moore.

He is survived by his wife Mary Faircloth Simmons of the home; daughter, Linda Simmons Moore of Rocky Mount; one granddaughter; four great grandchildren; brothers, Omerl Simmons (Inez), Jack Simmons (Margaret); sisters, Ruth Cooke and the late Tom of Rocky Mount; Nell Speight (Lowell) of Greenville, NC, and Judy Walston (Wayne) of Tarboro; and many nieces and nephews.

A chapel funeral service was held Friday October 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel Mausoleum at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
