ROCKY MOUNT – John Wayne Howell, 70, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011. He was born May 3, 1941 in Rocky Mount, son of the late Othoa Griffin Howell and Gladys Williams Howell.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Riley Howell of the home; two sons, Riley Riggins and Heath Riggins both of Rocky Mount; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at  7 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Carleton McKita officiating. The family received friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Pineview Cemetery.
