Ben Douglas Whitley, 66, died Friday, July 29, 2011.  He was born July 10, 1945 in Nash County son of Rachel Boykin Whitley and the late Aaron Whitley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Whitley and grand-daughter, Ashlyn Brooke Poole.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 11 years Ann Cone Whitley; son Kelly Harris of Spring Hope; daughters Tammy Whitley Bullock and husband Brian of Wake Forest, and Kim Harris Leonard and husband Sammy of Louisburg; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Ridgecrest Worship Center, Rocky Mount. The family received friends following the service. Entombment will follow at a later date.
