Nell S. Ferrell, 74, died Wednesday, July 13 2011 in Rocky Mount.  She was born March 12, 1937 in Hertford County, NC, daughter of the late Henry and Hazel Stephenson Slaughter.

She is survived by a son, Frank Matthews and wife Cindy of Rocky Mount; brother Robert Stephenson of Portland, OR; and two grandchildren.

Entombment service was  held 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum in Wilson, with Rev. Tim Hogan officiated.  Arrangements by Cornerstone Funeral Home, Nashville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to West Mount Baptist Church,  8487 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
