George Howard “Pete” Briley, Sr., age 84, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011. Born October 19, 1926, he was the youngest son of the late Henry B. Briley and Flora B. Wallace Briley.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Briley.

He is survived by his  wife of 62 years, Ida Faucette Briley; two sons, George Howard Briley Jr. and wife Brenda and Steven Franklin Briley and wife Debbie; daughter, Vickie Briley Bullard and fiancé Keith Edwards; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; sister, Emily B. Hathaway and three nieces.

Visitation with the family will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.  A Going Home service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Todd Stout, Rev. David Kizziah and Rev. Glenn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
