Edward Ray Johnson, 58, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011.

Ray was born in Nash County on August 4, 1952 to the late Margie Johnson Boyd and the late Durwood Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Carla (Tess) Johnson; sons, Thomas Ellington II and Brian Francione of Boston, MA ; daughter Stacie Weeks of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Jean Synder and husband Robert of Greenville,  and Margie Ann Boyd and partner Lynn of Greenville, ; three brothers, Phillip Johnson and wife Rhonda of Mebane, Thurston Boyd Jr. and wife Gina of Greenville, and Bobby Johnson and wife Weiner of Rocky Mount.  Ray is also survived by a special mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and Frances Shearin of Rocky Mount.

Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home Nashville, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 7:00-8:30 pm.  Graveside Service will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Henry Abbott and Rev. Brandon Dees officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in his honor to Calvary Baptist Church, 505 S.
