ROCKY MOUNT - Van Matthew Battle, 75, of Rocky Mount, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.

A visitation for Mr. Battle was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, May 27, 2011, in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Nashville, NC. The interment took place immediately following the service in the New St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery in Battlesboro.
