ROCKY MOUNT - Andrew Jackson Sherrod, Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his home. He was born August 31, 1935 in Spring Hope, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Johnnie Jackson and Elsie Johnson Sherrod.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Joyner Sherrod; daughters, Deb Kerris and Sandy Snider; son, Andy Sherrod; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren all of Florida; sisters, Brenda White of Zebulon and Ruby Lee of Garner; brothers, Monroe, Johnny, Roland, Zollie Sherrod of Nashville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends and family from 7 to 9 pm Friday, March 11, 2011 at Johnson Chapel of Nashville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Johnson Chapel of Nashville. Burial  followed at Forest Hills Cemetery.
